Azure will provide a cloud-base .NET service, Windows Live Services, SQL Services (including Reporting, Data Mining, ETL) and more. In addition, they were able to instantly scale-up the amount of computing nodes by changing a config file. Visual Studio 2008 will support building cloud apps directly. There is also now a “Cloud on your desktop” so that you can design, build, and test these apps on your locally and deploy them to the cloud. Expected on 2009
